UNC Honors Standout Student-Athletes

North Carolina student-athletes who are 2011-12 recipients of two prestigious honors – Athletic Director’s Scholar-Athletes and Tar Heel Leaders of Distinction – were recognized Thursday during halftime of the UNC men’s basketball team’s win over visiting NC State at the Dean E. Smith Center.

Carolina Signs Three For 2012

Tar Heels Close Out Fall Racing With Improved Results

Tar Heels ‘Turn It Pink’

Friday was “Turn It Pink” day in the UNC Athletic Department, and the Carolina rowing team took that suggestion to heart for its morning workout at the Eddie Smith Indoor Field House, where the whole team was decked out in pink.The department effort is one of many “Turn It Pink” events on campus and around town as part of the “Turn The Town Pink” efforts in support of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Care Center and the fight against breast cancer.

Chatting with coxswain Emma Shaw

Emma Shaw, a senior from Chapel Hill, is a coxswain in her third year on the UNC varsity rowing team. With no previous coxing experience, she went through open tryouts as freshman and made the novice squad. Four years later, she is an experienced leader and is looking forward to her senior year at Carolina while also keeping an eye on life after graduation.
