UNC Honors Standout Student-Athletes

North Carolina student-athletes who are 2011-12 recipients of two prestigious honors – Athletic Director’s Scholar-Athletes and Tar Heel Leaders of Distinction – were recognized Thursday during halftime of the UNC men’s basketball team’s win over visiting NC State at the Dean E. Smith Center.

Former Tar Heel Mark Wilson Wins Humana Challenge

Former Tar Heel golfer Mark Wilson (1994-97) sank a 10-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to grab a 2-stroke win over Robert Garrigus, John Mallinger and Johnson Wagner at the Humana Challenge. Wilson fired a 24-under-par total 264 with rounds of 66-62-67-69.

Carolina Men’s Golf Team Inks Top Recruit

North Carolina men’s golf coach Andrew Sapp announced the signing of Keagan Cummings of Dublin, Ireland. Cummings played golf at the IMG Pendleton School in Bradenton, Fla., and will join the Tar Heel team in the fall of 2012.

Carolina Men Finish Tied For Sixth in Greensboro

The Carolina men’s golf team finished tied for sixth place in the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate at Forest Oaks Coutry Club in Greensboro, N.C. UNC finished with an 11-over 299 second round and 593 total. Play was shortened to two rounds after a weather delay Saturday. Patrick Barrett and Michael McGowan tied for 15th place, scoring 147 final.

Carolina Men’s Golf Tied For Second After First Round

The University of North Carolina men’s golf team is tied for second place after the first round of play in the UNCG Bridgestone Golf Collegiate. The Tar Heels shot a 6-over-par 294, and recorded two eagles Friday. Senior Patrick Barrett is tied for first place, firing a 2-under 70 total.

Both Golf Teams Conclude Fall Campaign This Weekend

Men Golfers Finish 11th At Jack Nicklaus Invitational

Complete Results
The North Carolina men’s golf team finished in 11th place at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational being played at Muirfield Village Golf Club. Carolina carded a 307 in the final round for a 913 total. Senior Matt Raudenbush led the Tar Heels firing a 2-over-par 74 in the final round.
