UNC Honors Standout Student-Athletes

North Carolina student-athletes who are 2011-12 recipients of two prestigious honors – Athletic Director’s Scholar-Athletes and Tar Heel Leaders of Distinction – were recognized Thursday during halftime of the UNC men’s basketball team’s win over visiting NC State at the Dean E. Smith Center.

Carolina Women’s Golf Team Adds Another Signee

North Carolina women’s golf coach Jan Mann announced the signing of Elizabeth Mallett of Sutton Coldfield, England. Mallett played golf at Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls and will join the Tar Heel team in the fall of 2012.

UNC Women’s Golf Team Inks Top Recruit

North Carolina women’s golf coach Jan Mann announced the signing of Samantha Mark of Maitland, Fla., who will join the Tar Heel team in the fall of 2012. Mark is currently ranked 13th in the class of 2012 in the Polo Junior Golf Rankings and ranked 44th overall in the same rankings.

Carolina Women Golfers Finish Tied for Eighth

The University of North Carolina women’s golf team finished tied for eighth place in The Landfall Tradition, played at the Country Club of Landfall’s Nicklaus course. The team shot 313 in the final round to finish with a 932 tournament total. Casey Grice led the Heels with a 5-over-par 77 in the final round, and finished tied for tenth in the individual race.

The University of North Carolina women’s golf team shot a 313 in the second round of The Landfall Tradition and is tied for fourth place going into Sunday’s final round at the Country Club of Landfall’s Nicklaus Course. Casey Grice led the Tar Heels on Saturday by firing a 3-over-par 75.

The University of North Carolina women’s golf team is tied for third place after the first round of The Landfall Tradition being played at the Country Club of Landfall here. Carolina carded an 18-over-par 306 on Friday, nine strokes behind the leader, Auburn. The Tar Heels were led by Casey Grice who fired a 3-over-par 75 in the first round.

The University of North Carolina women’s golf team moved up to fourth place in the latest Golf World/NGCA Coaches’ Poll which was released Wednesday. The Tar Heels moved up one spot as they were ranked fifth in the last poll.
