Kelsey Green drove in three runs to lead the White over the Blue, 11-4, Saturday afternoon at Anderson Stadium. The intra-squad scrimmage served as the final tune up before the Tar Heels open up the 2012 campaign Friday, Feb. 10, against North Florida.

Tar Heels Tabbed Second In Preseason Poll

The North Carolina softball team will begin the 2012 campaign predicted to finish second in the Atlantic Coast Conference according to the league’s eight coaches as announced by the league office Friday. The Tar Heels are coming off a 34-21 season that saw them post a 15-8 league mark, a second-place finish in the regular season and a runner-up finish in the ACC Championship. The Tar Heels will have their final tune up for the season as they conduct the annual Blue-White intra-squad scrimmage Saturday, Feb. 4, at Anderson Stadium at 11:30 a.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

UNC Honors Standout Student-Athletes

North Carolina student-athletes who are 2011-12 recipients of two prestigious honors – Athletic Director’s Scholar-Athletes and Tar Heel Leaders of Distinction – were recognized Thursday during halftime of the UNC men’s basketball team’s win over visiting NC State at the Dean E. Smith Center.

Carolina Announces Blue-White Scrimmage Dates

North Carolina softball has announced the dates of the 2012 Blue-White Scrimmages for Saturday, Jan. 28, and Saturday, Feb. 4. Both scrimmages are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and will be played at Williams Field at Anderson Stadium. The intra-squad scrimmages are free to the public and fans are encouraged to show up and support your Carolina Tar Heels.

Three Tar Heel Softball Games To Be Televised

A record 14 Atlantic Coast Conference softball games are set for national or regional telecast during the 2012 season, including, for the first time, all seven games of the ACC Softball Championship May 10-12. North Carolina’s series at Florida State will be televised, including the series’ finale Monday, April 2, on ESPNU.

Sign Up For 2012 UNC Softball Summer Camps
The University of North Carolina softball team announced the dates for its 2012 Summer Camps Thursday afternoon, including the addition of two shorter camps: a two-day hitting clinic June 12-13 as well as a slapping/short game clinic June 18. All camps will be conducted by the Carolina softball staff. Registration for the 2012 Summer Camps will open in late February and can be done at carolinasoftballcamps.com.
