No. 2 Tar Heels Open ACC Play With Sweep Of NC State

No. 2 North Carolina opened Atlantic Coast Conference play with a 7-0 sweep of No. 42 NC State Thursday afternoon at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. UNC, which won its 12th straight regular season match against State, improves to 13-1 on the season, while the Wolfpack falls to 4-4. Katrina Tsang, Sanaz Marand, Jelena Durisic, Zoe De Bruycker and Shinann Featherston scored straight-set wins for the Tar Heels.

Tar Heels Rise To No. 1 In ITA National Poll

On the heels of a run to the finals of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships and a pair of 7-0 home wins last Saturday, the North Carolina women’s tennis team has risen to the No. 1 spot in the latest Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings released Tuesday. The No. 1 ranking is the highest in program history, eclipsing the No. 2 ranking from the previous week’s poll.

No. 2 Tar Heels Sweep ECU, UNCG

Fresh off a run to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship finals that pushed the team to its highest national ranking in program history, No. 2 North Carolina scored a pair of 7-0 wins over East Carolina and UNC Greensboro Saturday at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Ceneter. No. 41 Sanaz Marand, the reigning ACC Player of the Week, dropped just two games in a pair of wins at No. 1 singles to lead the Tar Heels.

No. 11 Tar Heels Fall To No. 3 Northwestern In ITA Final

No. 11 North Carolina’s storybook run through the ITA National Team Indoor Championships ended Monday as the Tar Heels fell to No. 3 Northwestern, 4-2, in the title match at the University of Wisconsin’s Nielsen Tennis Stadium. Carolina, which defeated three top-10 opponents in the event, falls to 10-1 on the season, while the Wildcats improve to 8-0 in winning their second straight national indoor title.

No. 11 Carolina Tops No. 1 Duke For Spot In ITA Finals

No. 11 North Carolina continued its dream run through the ITA National Team Indoor Championships with a heart-stopping 4-3 win over No. 1 Duke Saturday afternoon at the University of Wisconsin’s Nielson Tennis Stadium. The win, Carolina’s first-ever victory over a top-ranked team, puts the Tar Heels into Monday’s final against No. 2 Northwestern.
