Thomas Ferguson, Dennis Drury and Ziad Haddad recorded semifinal victories for North Carolina Saturday afternoon and will wrestle for Atlantic Coast Conference crowns Saturday night at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, N.C. The trio has led North Carolina into fourth place with 29 points, trailing No. 14 Virginia Tech (62), No. 22 Virginia (55) and No. 10 Maryland (54). Duke and N.C. State round out the field with 14 and 6 points, respectively.

No. 18 Dennis Drury, Ziad Haddad and Thomas Ferguson each grabbed runner-up finishes to the lead the North Carolina wrestling team to a fourth-place finish at the ACC Championships on Saturday in Raleigh, N.C. No. 22 Virginia won the event with 85 points, narrowly defeating No. 10 Maryland (80.5) and No. 14 Virginia Tech (78.5). Carolina registered 44.5 points, while Duke and N.C. State rounded out the field with 28 and 15.5 points, respectively.

The North Carolina wrestling team will travel to Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, N.C., to compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. The Tar Heels finished fourth in the conference during the regular season behind three nationally ranked squads and will look to improve on last season’s fourth place finish at the ACC Championships.

North Carolina and The Citadel split the ten individual contests in Sunday’s dual meet, but late pins by UNC seniors Dennis Drury and Jeremy Shaw triggered a 21-16 Tar Heel victory in the final dual meet of the 2009-10 season for both teams. With the decision, Carolina caps its recent hot streak by registering its fourth win in five matches. The Tar Heels complete dual action with a 7-8-1 record while the Bulldogs end their campaign at 9-6.

The North Carolina wrestling team will finish off its regular-season schedule this weekend when they meet The Citadel Sunday at 2 p.m. The Tar Heels are currently 6-8-1 on the season and have completed their Atlantic Coast Conference slate with a 2-3 record. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 9-5 overall and are riding a five-match win streak and have won eight of the last nine dual meets.
