Jan Mann Takes Over As Carolina’s Next Women’s Golf Coach

Jan Mann, a former Atlantic Coast Conference head coach and well-respected individual in collegiate women’s golf, has become the next women’s golf coach at the University of North Carolina. Mann, a proven and experienced head coach, will be the third head coach in Carolina history as announced by Director of Athletics Dick Baddour in March.

Tar Heels Release 2009-10 Schedule

The University of North Carolina wrestling squad will face a challenging schedule in 2009-10 with the hopes of building another deep, talented team for the end-of-season Atlantic Coast Conference and NCAA championships. The Tar Heels open the season Nov. 7 at the NC State Open in Raleigh, and will wrestle in Chapel Hill on three occasions while renovations continue at Carmichael Auditorium.

Mullinix, Morris Tapped For Guilford County Hall Of Fame

The Guilford County Sports Hall of Fame is proud to announce the 2009 Class of Inductees which includes former UNC All-America goalkeeper Siri Mullinix, also a past starter on the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team, as well as former UNC men’s tennis coach Allen Morris who led the Tar Heel program from 1980-93. The class will be inducted at the Guilford County Sports Hall of Fame Banquet on Monday, September 21, 2009 at the Greensboro Coliseum.

U.S. Falls To Serbia In Exhibition, 98-82

Despite receiving double-digit scoring efforts from four players, the 2009 USA Men’s World University Games Team (1-1) was defeated 98-82 by host Serbia (2-0) in the 2009 Serbia International Invitational on Sunday night in Belgrade. Evan Turner (Ohio State / Chicago, Ill.) came off the bench for team-highs of 16 points and six rebounds, Corey Fisher (Villanova / Bronx, N.Y.) scored 12 points, while Talor Battle (Penn State / Albany, N.Y.) and Da’Sean Butler (West Virginia / Newark, N.J.) chipped in 10 points apiece.
