UNC Places Second At Maryland

North Carolina took second place Sunday in a tri-meet with Maryland and Bowling Green, moving to 7-1 on the season. The Heels posted a team total of 193.125, between Maryland with 194.475 and Bowling Green with 191.500. Junior Elizabeth Durkac broke two personal bests and took first place overall scoring a 39.150.

Zeller Wins Performer of the Week Honors Again

North Carolina forward Tyler Zeller was named the Tar Heel Performer of the Week for the second successive time, meriting honors for January 30-February 5, 2012, after leading Carolina to road victories over Wake Forest and Maryland.

Tar Heels Third In Preseason IWLCA Poll

North Carolina grabbed the No. 3 spot and defending NCAA champion Northwestern was No. 1 as the IWLCA released the preseason poll. Maryland, the 2011 runners-up, start in second while fellow 2011 semifinalist UNC comes in at third. Florida (which will pay a visit to Fetzer Field in the season opener for both schools on Saturday Feb. 11), and Duke round out the top five.

Nicks Wins Super Bowl With Giants

Former North Carolina standout Hakeem Nicks posted a game-high 10 catches for 109 yards to help lead New York to a 21-17 victory over New England in Super Bowl XLVI. On the final scoring drive of the game, Nicks had two critical catches, including a first down at the Patriots’ 7-yard line.

UNC Wins Six More Individual Titles at VT Invitational

Tar Heels Brave The Elements On Sunday Afternoon
